Reading Order & FAQ

Galaxy-spanning adventures of magic and gods, love and betrayal, and a quest to find out what holds the stars together in the dark.

Yes, this is one of those sagas – series within series, books that start in one place and finish in another, and all sorts of hidden extras in between. Fun!

Any!

Start with the Lightless Prophecy (Darkhaven) for superhumans, dodgy espionage and snacking-while-saving-the-universe.
Whisperers for gritty gaslamp fantasy full of mystery.
Cursed Princes for angst, dramatic princes and royal politicking in a world at war.

You can skip the novellas and shorts for Lightless and Whisperers. They add much to the saga, but they’re not essential to the core series.

Cursed Princes is a novella series, so if you skip those novellas, well.

No. All core entries in a series will be available at retailers.

Most of the novellas/shorts available to patrons will eventually make it to retailers as well, however this will take much longer and is not guaranteed. Some non-canonical material such as Character Confidential and deleted scenes will remain subscriber-exclusive.

Sometimes a title will be offered to Patrons for early access, but the book will be released to retail at a later date.

All canonical bonus material released for crowdfunding campaigns will end up on my Patreon after the campaign’s exclusivity period (usually 6-12 months), available to paid tiers. You are welcome to join, get the title you want, then leave again!

Paperbacks of the Lightless Prophecy are available for purchase on Amazon or through my crowdfunding campaigns.

Hardbacks for Lightless and Whisperers are exclusive to my crowdfunding campaigns, but if you miss one, you can get it in the next campaign.

Cursed Princes will be coming to print via Kickstarter in 2027.

I would love to do audiobooks, but they are very expensive to produce and are not planned for the immediate future. You can help it happen though! The more reviews a book gets on retailers such as Amazon, the more likely I am to land a contract for audiobook production.

I’m currently focussed on the Cursed Princes. The last of those is A Prince’s Grief, scheduled for digital release late 2026 and an omnibus print edition via Kickstarter in 2027.

After that is The Lies We Whisper (Whisperers #2). It’ll hopefully be available in ebook early 2027 and print via Kickstarter possibly 2017/28. There are two further books in this series, which will follow after Lies in 2027. And Santo’s story will squeeze in somewhere too.

Soulshards (Lightless #4) is slated for 2028. Why so far away? The Lightless Prophecy books are my most expensive and time-consuming to produce. Memory Weave will get a Special Ops edition in 2027, and that should set things up nicely for Soulshards to release to Kickstarter (then everywhere else) the following year.

But all things are subject to change! If Darkhaven suddenly becomes a runaway bestseller, I will prioritise the series!

Oh, she is! Coming eventually. Maybe 2027 as a Patreon serial? Hassle me if you’re super keen and she’ll move up the list!

I believe the purpose of art is to be human.

All my books are painstakingly planned, plotted, researched, written, revised, edited and proofread by humans (mostly me, with help from definitely-human beta readers and editors).

Any art associated with my books (such as illustrated editions) is, to the best of my ability to discern, made by humans.
