A few notes before you jump in

Be the first to get your hands on new publications!

An ‘ARC’ is an Advance Review Copy, and it essentially means you get a free copy of a book before it releases with the expectation that you’ll review it on release day. When you join the team, you’ll start with Review Copies of books already out to catch up on the series.

You are not required to provide a review in exchange for an ARC, however if you enjoy the book, please consider leaving a rating or review on whatever retailers you frequent and platforms you use.

For example: Amazon ♦ Kobo ♦ Apple Books ♦ Google Play ♦ Barnes & Noble ♦ Goodreads ♦ StoryGraph ♦ Your own bookish blog or socials

Please note that Amazon might refuse your review if you say you received a free or ARC copy in exchange for a review. Simply write your review as if you had purchased the book. On other platforms, phrase things however you like. If you’d like to know more about this, please reach out!

A few notes before you jump in

  • Low/no steam
  • Not a whole lot of wand-waving (actual magic) early on
  • Australian spelling/punctuation/grammar
  • Point of view changes from single first person to multiple first and third in book 3
  • No dragons

No dragons?! What do I have, then? Here’s the first book, Darkhaven:

  • Sassy female main character
  • Superhumans and genetic experiments
  • Intuition as a superpower
  • The perils of finishing high school
  • Friendships
  • Contemporary Australian setting
  • Conspiracy and espionage
  • Romance
  • Dark-haired book boyfriend

Further into the series, you can expect more complex magic, other worlds, space opera vibes, LGBTQIA+ characters and relationships, strong women, romance, angst, some bittersweetness, and epic scope.

Content Warnings

Some of my books contain sensitive content, including possible mental health triggers for anxiety, depression, suicide and PTSD.

It’s not grimdark, but there is some graphic violence, death, infrequent coarse language, and fade-to-black sex.

You can find more details here. (Reminder: there are no actual dragons in this series.)

What if I don’t like the book?

It’s up to you. If you feel uncomfortable leaving a review, you don’t have to! You can quietly disappear by unsubscribing, or you can email and kindly let me know it’s not for you. I understand! We can even chat about whether I have other projects more to your taste.

If you still want to review, I ask that you please explain why you didn’t like it. There are things I’ve put a book down for that would make someone else pick it up, so an honest and open ‘negative’ review can actually be useful.

If you want to be extra considerate, please consider waiting a few days or a week after the release date, as a bad review on release day can mess up algorithms. Let me know if you have any questions!
